  1. Even though there is no permanent solution to Matt’s conflict, every time El Patron is around him, Matt gets the respect as a human being and even the respect as though everyone should follow what he commands.

  2. / he doesn’t really resolve the conflict he just “Goes with the flow”. He lets people push him around, but he gets payback.

  3. Matt hasn't really resolved the conflict. He has been too focused on the oasis and figuring out what goes on in that house. He seems like he is finding out what he needs to know about that house. He isn’t focused on being normal as you can see.

  4. Matt resolves his conflict by at the end of the book he finds Esprenza in a hospital with Maria after working at a plankton factory. He and his friends get out after being through pain from the boneyard(a place where they send bad kids). They then come across two nice people in a hovercraft that take them to the hospital to find their hurt friend. When they arrive there they want to see their friend, but it is short lived because Jorge and Carlos are also in the hospital. The boys are attacked by the keepers and the sisters that are in there tell them that there is no fighting, but that is all they could get out before Esprenza walks in with Maria. The keepers are forced to take a drug test and are sent out. This resolves the conflict by how he had never stopped believing that he would ever find Maria again.

  5. Matt resolves the conflict with a new conflict. El Patron is dead, all his followers are dead (El Patron poisoned every one accept Daft Donald), and Opium is in a state of lockdown. Matt has just escaped from the plankton factory and, with the help of his friends from the infernal place, disgraced the Keepers (I feel like saying it’s about time for some reason). Now, he is supposed to essentially destroy the drug empire that El Patron created, probably dismantle Opium entirely. Makes me feel like there’s supposed to be a sequel or something. Hmmmmm…
