Describe the characters’ conflict.

  1. The main characters conflict is the people of the Alacran estate. He is a clone and the people who live there don’t think that clones should be alive. The people of the estate only care for him when El Patron is around because the main character, Matt, is his clone. Matt has to prove to the people that he is the same as a regular kid and he shouldn’t be discriminated against because he is a clone. Also he believes that if he is tries his hardest at school the people will look at him differently and not discriminate against him.

    1. I agree with your comment. I also noticed that since he is a clone, he is not welcome into his society. No one wants him there and it must be hard for a boy to live somewhere, where he isn't wanted.

  2. Matt is the clone of a very powerful old man. He is younger than him though, only about seven right now. He has no real parents and doesn’t really know who he is. His main conflict is that he feels empty inside, like something is missing. He knows that he is a clone and after someone told him he is a photograph of his “master”, to help him understand who he is, that’s all that he feels like right now, a photograph.

  3. the characters conflict is man vs. man, because everybody hates the main character. He is treated like a dog, but later in the book he is treated worse than a dog.

  4. I think that the conflict of House is Matt trying to deal with the flack he gets for being a clone, even if he is the clone of El Patron. Evidence of that is just about everywhere, but when he gets the knowledge dumped on his head that being a clone is grounds for being discriminated against is when he first encounters the Esperanzas, and gets take to the hospital with glass in his foot, but is then unceremoniously dumped out when it is discovered he’s a clone (21-24).

  5. A new conflict has arose since El Patron had a heart attack and is in need of a new one, this time it’s Matt’s heart that is needed for the transplant and it will kill him in the process, now he has to escape without being noticed of he’ll be the next to die.
